indeed. University of Science, Malaysia (USM) was granted the "Accelerated Programme for Excelence (APEX) status marking the 1st step to transform it into Malaysia's first world-class university.
In last year's Times Higher Education-QS World University Rankings, University Malaya (UM) was the highest ranked Malaysian university at 246, followed by USM (307), UKM (309) and UPM (364). As Jeff Ooi put it correctly,
"I hope USM finds its name on the apex of the UK Times Higher Education Supplement (THES)".
As one of its alumnus, my heartiest congratulations goes to USM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Tan Sri Dzulkifli Abdul Razak and his team for the hard work are well paid off. A most welcome birthday present for USM who is turning 40 next year.
